Two people were killed and a third was injured in two separate homicides that occurred overnight in Gwinnett County, police said Saturday morning.
Officers responded to a shooting at the Reserve at Peachtree Corners apartment complex about 10:45 p.m. Friday, Gwinnett police spokesman officer Jacob Albright said in an emailed statement.
They arrived to find two people — a man and a woman — who had been shot inside a silver car. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The woman, who was shot multiple times, was treated by officers and taken to a hospital.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting, and police are still working to identify the victims, Albright said. No other information was released.
Several hours later, just after 5 a.m., a woman’s body was discovered in a Buford neighborhood, police said. Officers responded to the area of Roxwood Park Drive and Woodward Mill Road and found the woman in the roadway.
Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area just before the body was found, but officers are still working to determine exactly how the woman died, Channel 2 Action News reported.
“Visible injuries were observed but the cause of death was not immediately obvious,” police said Saturday.
Both incidents remain under investigation, and anyone with information on either either case is asked to call Gwinnett detectives at 770-513-5300.
