Friday morning is off to a dry a start in metro Atlanta, but isolated showers are expected to move in this afternoon.
Unfortunately, the wet weather will likely stick around through the weekend, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“It’s partly cloudy to start the day and we’re going to have some clouds around 9 a.m., but no rain,” he said. “But by early this afternoon — around 1 o’clock — those first showers will start to pop up. There will be more rain today than we saw yesterday, and even more over the weekend.”
Today’s rain shouldn’t affect the morning commute, but the post-lunch showers could cause delays on the ride home, according to the latest forecast. The chance of rain increases later this afternoon and into the evening.
The afternoon high is expected to reach 87 degrees in Atlanta, but it will be humid. Additionally, the 30% chance of afternoon showers increases to 60% just in time for the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday won’t be complete washouts, however. While rain is expected both days, there should be plenty of time to get outdoors and enjoy some sunshine.
“We’re going to start dry on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, though, have backup plans if you’re looking to get outside,” Monahan said. “There will be showers and storms around, and a few heavier downpours.”
