LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The nephew of David McAtee was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning, according to the family.

A family member confirmed with WLKY that Marvin McAtee was the man killed in the early Saturday morning shooting at Dino’s Food Mart on West Broadway.

LMPD confirmed they found two male victims on the scene suffering from gunshot wounds around 1:30 a.m. One victim was pronounced dead on the scene, while the other victim was transported to University Hospital and is expected to be okay.

“He was a very fun and happy guy to be around. He hasn’t had a perfect life, but he was on the right path, after losing his uncle David McAtee,” said Marvin’s niece Urana Carr. “He started working more at the barbecue place, and he even followed his Uncle David’s footsteps by giving out food at times just to give back to the community. It’s just a very sad day for us as we are seeing the videos and images of him laying on the ground like that.”

Councilman-elect Jecorey Arthur shared the information on his Facebook page Saturday afternoon.
