A man was shot and killed by Casa Grande police Thursday after officials say he refused to comply with a traffic stop.

Police said 30-year-old Francisco Danny Flores led officers into a car chase around 9:30 p.m. instead of stopping his car. Police said Flores committed several traffic violations during this pursuit before stopping at an intersection near Wood Street and Melrose Drive.

Flores got out of his car and pointed a weapon at the officers, police said. Three officers — identified as Sgt. John Tena, Officer Richard Rush and Officer Andrew Egan — shot Flores, killing him. Officials said no one else was injured.

The three involved officers were placed on administrative duty in compliance with department policy. Officials said the Arizona Department of Public Safety will investigate the shooting.
